Your Ultimate Snake ID Guide For Snakes Found On The Sunshine Coast & Surrounds.
South East Queensland is home to a wide variety of snake species, and encounters with snakes are a normal part of living on the Sunshine Coast. At SEQ Wildlife Rescue we receive many calls from members of the public asking us to help identify snakes they have encountered around their homes, workplaces, or while out enjoying the outdoors.
This guide has been created to help you safely identify common snake species found throughout South East Queensland.
HOW TO USE THIS SNAKE ID GUIDE

If you are still unsure after using the guide, you can contact SEQ Wildlife Rescue for assistance with identification.
NEVER INTERACT WITH SNAKES
Snakes are protected wildlife and attempting to catch, handle, or interfere with them without the appropriate permits and training is illegal and extremely dangerous.
If you encounter a snake, keep a safe distance and allow it space to move away. Most snakes will avoid people when left undisturbed.
If a snake remains around your home, workplace, or a high-traffic area, please contact SEQ Wildlife Rescue for professional assistance.
